I have a confession to make – and it may surprise you – but I love knitting. I have always got a project on the go, and it is usually something simple that doesn’t require a pattern, like a scarf so that I can zone out and create something with my hands.
There are so many gorgeous different types of wool available. The textures and colour combinations mean you can create some original pieces that keep you warm and it is also quite nice to wear something you have made yourself – a rare thing these days!
I have also passed my love of knitting on to my youngest daughter Anabel. She not only knits, but she is teaching herself how to crochet and has made some adorable baby hats, scarves and mittens.
So it was with much excitement that Anabel and I headed off to the 2015 Quilt & Craft Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Building. There are so many opportunities to be inspired and learn something new.
Whether you’re into quilting, papercraft, stitching, sewing, lace, beading, painting or even knitting there were so many talented demonstrators all under one roof.
Anabel and I had an amazing time, managed to pick up some unique wool for our next project, and with this nasty Melbourne weather we are now looking forward to hours of knitting in front of the tv!
