It seems the women of the world are divided by shapewear.   You either do shapewear or you don’t and there isn’t much in between.  The women who have been converted never want to go back. They feel supported, tight and toned and I suppose, who doesn’t want that?   If you’re feeling bloated or not as firm as you’d like, a good control slip or a pair of miracle shaper briefs can help boost your confidence and make you feel better while wearing your favorite dress.

Leane and I always recommend that If you’ve got an event coming up and you want a little something extra to help you look and feel your best, there’s no harm in using high-tech fabrics and clothing design to give yourself a helping hand and a super sleek silhouette.

I personally have mixed feelings about it, even though Leane and many of my friends won’t leave home without their big undies, I have resisted from crossing over to the world of Shapewear so far.?It seems my delicate constitution does not like being squished into a girdle for too long because it results in severe tummy pains and embarrassing noises in the ladies room, if you get my meaning!  Sorry, that was probably too much information.   And of course if it is a hot day, the extra thick wetsuit type layer becomes my own personal sauna.

The reason I am bringing up this topic is that I am faced with a dilemma regarding an outfit I plan to wear to the races.?? The style is fitted as usual for my curvaceous hourglass figure, but I am actually wearing a colour and it is not black!  One of the many reasons I embrace black is for its smoothing and slimming qualities but this time I wanted to move away from my staple and try something a little different for Ladies Day.  The color of my dress is pink!  Pale pink does not hide the lumps and bumps quite so well and so I am faced with the option of having to consider shapewear.

There really seems to be a science involved in the choosing of your correct shapewear and not all shapewear is equal.

The main choices are:

This bodysuit offers support and slimming through the stomach and waist but doesn’t trim down the thigh area.

This is a great option if you are after more support and shaping around the hips and thighs.  The added benefit of straps over the shoulder means you don’t have to worry about the brief rolling down.

A support slip is fantastic if you have a dress that is unforgiving or a bit clingy around the thighs.  It also cinches in the waist and some even offer underwire support in the bust – which means it is even more seamless and reduces any bulging around the bra line or midriff.

If you are after just a little more support through your back and stomach, there are many camis and singlets available that work quite well to smooth any lumps and bumps down without being too restrictive.

Of course if in doubt, nothing beats a big pair of support undies to keep everything under control, smooth your curves and hide your cellulite.   Many celebrities have accidentally flashed a pair of control briefs when negotiating the red carpet so there is no shame in using these undergarments to enhance your appearance and make you feel better.
