Clinique Foundation

Choosing the right foundation isn’t always easy.

Last week I stopped off at the Clinique counter to grab a sample of the new Clinique Beyond Perfecting Make-up.  It is a foundation and concealer in one.  This foundation has a full coverage so it is very thick.   I doted it around my face and blended straight away with my fingers.  Then I buffed it in with a foundation brush to even it out.  A little bit goes a long way.

What Beyond Perfecting Make Up has to offer:

  • Full coverage
  • Semi Matt finish
  • Moisturising with a light weight feel
  • A large doe foot tip that you can use to add more coverage under the eyes, around the nose and chin.  This is the concealer!

You get quite a few applications out of the little sample pot Clinique provides so it is well worth your while to pop by a Clinique counter and ask for a sample.   I really do believe with foundation you need to try it  a couple of times before you buy.   Nothing worse than putting it on in the morning to find all your makeup sliding off your face by lunchtime!

The shade I have been wearing is number 4 which seems to matches my skin tone perfectly.  I really tested it out – I wore it to work all day, then to an intense Pilates class and out to dinner.   At the end of the day it was still looking pretty good.

It certainly is a fuller coverage than other foundations I use but it doesn’t feel cakey or heavy.  The trick is to not use too much product.   I wouldn’t recommend wearing it if you have dry skin because it is semi-matte,  but it is great for normal, combination or oily skin.   The cost is $50.00 for a 30ml bottle.  With the small amount you need, it would last you a very long time.
