I recently discovered a casual look I love – which is the Tie Front Dress.   I noticed it in a blog post Sarah Donaldson did in Harper & Harley which covered the absolutely gorgeous Joseph Knit Tie Front Dress:

There are a number of reasons why I love this dress but the main one is because the tie front not only hides your pot belly or rounded tummy, it also manages to create the illusion of a waist.   This is definitely a win-win.   It is so easy to throw on a soft knitted tie front maxi, add a jacket and boots for a comfortable mid-season look.   Since discovering the Joseph knitted tie front dress (which sold out quickly and was ridiculously expensive), I have managed to find a few budget friendly choices.   Boohoo.com – have got heaps of tie front options at the moment.   I got the grey marle tie front dress for this post from Boohoo for $24 – bargain!

The second look was a little more dressy from Sheike   It is no longer available in the black but they have just recently released it in a light grey (you know how I love grey….) so I am thinking maybe I need that one too?  It is a fine rib knit – you can’t really see that in the photos – and quite heavy (so it hides any lumps and bumps!) which makes it another useful dress that can easily be made more glamorous or dressed down depending on the occasion.

During the photo shoot I had a lot of help (meaning she was nearly in every photo) from my gorgeous cat Ruby – so I thought I should add one with her in it, since she tried so hard!
