TWEEN STYLE EDIT

I have an 11 year old daughter Anabel (soon to be 12 she is yelling at me!), and I don’t think I am alone with my frustration as to how to dress her appropriately without making her look too old or too young. This is particularly relevant this time of year as we approach Spring Carnival, Christmas parties, School Breakup parties, holidays, News Years Eve… need I go on?

I have been dressing Anabel alot from Next Direct for the past few years. They seem to have captured the idea that “tweens” are still young girls but they want to look like older girls. Their party dresses still twirl and have sequins, but they also have an edge to them which makes them a little cooler. The actually have a range specifically for “older girls” which ranges from 3 years to 16 years, which is quite a broad category, but it does have feminine, soft, pretty pieces for special occasions. I love their daywear too, but I am focusing on party dressing for this style edit.

They have cute shoes too – anything from sparkly ballet flats to boots with tassels. Of course shoes and accessories can really make or break an outfit so it is important to get them right!  I highly recommend you check out Next Direct if you are struggling to find outfits for your tween.   If you have any other suggestions please feel free to comment.
